Alice (LINDA LAVIN), dressed as a rabbit, decides to check up on Tommy (PHILIP McKEON), who is spending his Easter vacation at Mel's (VIC TAYBACK) apartment, and feels a little stupid when she is caught by Tommy and Mel. Totally enjoyable watching from the start and (although the story was originally shown in two parts on TV) it's still watchable in one sitting. Alice (LINDA LAVIN) causes problems for Tommy (PHILIP McKEON) when she falls for his school principal (GARY COLLINS). If you aren’t familiar with him from the British series Primeval you’re in for a treat. There is plenty of sarcastic interaction between Alice and Mel but they actually do like each other.

This version of the tale has a refreshing lack of sugar. Not really heard of Caterina Scorsone before, but she makes a terrific job of the heroine Alice (a bit more feisty - and older - than the original Lewis Carroll original) and the heroine that you want to get behind and cheer on. Flo (POLLY HOLLIDAY) tries to prove to her new boyfriend that she can drive a big semitrailer, but it turns out to be a disaster for Mel (VIC TAYBACK) and his diner. Mel (VIC TAYBACK) saves Christmas for all his friends when he turns into a real Santa Claus. Mel (VIC TAYBACK) has trouble with turkeys when he decides to open for Thanksgiving.
