The compressor gives you small hints and does start making unusual noises on occasion once the running capacitor fails, and this can go on for weeks, although eventually the compressor starts to run really hot without the running capacitor, and therby the compressor eventually going into thermal breakdown. Disgusting!Although you have offered to have a technician to come out to which I have been forced to accept, I am so overly appalled that it will be over a week before a technician can make it to my home. Had my LG fridge 4 and a half years and twice the compressor failed and also the water dispenser in the front door quit working so tech said the display board is out so he reordered everything and in a week from now it’s suppose to be repaired. Bought in 2/2016. I was troubleshooting why our LG French Door refrigerator (purchased in 2016) wasn’t keeping the cold temperatures any longer this week. He tells me that now it’s up to LG and the warranty company. My LG refrigerator stopped working in September 2017 while we were out of town and all the food spoiled. This time it completely went out and lost $500 in food plus 2 days off work without pay to have a repairman, who was sent by LG not do anything at all.
